"Amabilis Insania", Retina.it's first LP release since 2012, marks a significant return for the duo after more than a decade. The album is a profound exploration of the themes of resilience, renewal, and organic growth; drawing inspiration from the philosophical ideas of Immanuel Kant, particularly his concept of the sublime.
The album captures the essence of overcoming adversity and emerging stronger, symbolizing the resilience inherent in the human spirit. Its musical journey mirrors the cyclical patterns of nature, embracing themes of death and renewal as part of a continuous cycle of growth. Throughout the album, Retina.it juxtaposes the sublime’s awe-inspiring qualities with the tranquil aspects of beauty, creating a dynamic interplay between chaos and order.
The artwork developed for album mirror the album’s themes creating digital organic-like self-organizing structrures from that grow and evolve. The simulation agents feed off from a series of intricate prints created by Andrea Ucchino. Snapshots were taken at moments of particularly striking visual evolution, capturing unique phases in the simulated growth process.
