coalesce is a study of form that emerges rather than being composed. Something drifts through a field of forces; when it meets what has already taken shape, it stays, and becomes part of it. What accumulates is organic-like structure whose branching, screening itself, filling crevices are not designed, it is the shape of ten thousand arrivals.
The work is a research into how form comes into being. It begins from classic diffusion-limited aggregation and from Andy Lomas's field-biased variants, and from a long list of small decisions about flow, deposition and curvature. Each is a dial, not a doctrine. The aim is not to reproduce a known result but to map what the dials can reach, explore the space of possibility from which forms that have no name yet emerge. Every run is an experiment; the form is its evidence.
What the work proposes is a different relation between intention and form. Nothing is composed directly; one sets conditions and lets them run. What results is not a composition but a consequence, the visible trace of a process given room to go where it was not fully determined to go.
A run can be held, kept, replayed from its first deposit. Nothing records its timing only its order. The form remembers where it grew, not when.
